Howdy! My name is Austin Akers, and I’m the newest physician to join the group. Being originally from the DFW area, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to return to my roots to practice medicine. My wife and I live in Mansfield with our three children, and we love the small town feel while still being in close proximity to all the amenities of a large metropolitan area. I chose the field of infectious diseases because it selects the most interesting and complicated cases and allows me to help patients who may have been struggling to find the correct diagnosis or treatment. Particular areas of interest of mine include antibiotic stewardship, HIV care, and infection prevention. In addition to my clinical work, other responsibilities include being on the Pharmacy/ Therapeutics and Infection Prevention committees at Texas Health Hospital in Mansfield.
